It was a pretty good day that just kept humming along:)

Exercise:

Wow I slept right to the late alarm this morning and still didn’t want to get up!!

Thankfully I got a workout in with Lyndsay after school. It didn’t go according to plan as there were no treadmills available, so we used the bike, rowing machine and elliptical. I definitely noticed that they used different muscles than running so it was probably a good thing there were no treadmills. We did some floor work as well. Clean & press, lateral step ups, planks, skaters, up/downs, seated leg crunch, and probably some other things I’ve forgotten.

I fell walking across the road coming home from Lyndsay’s. it was wet and dark! A woman thought I was a kid so she hopped out of her car in rush hour traffic, to come check on me. It was very kind of her! Another week with a sore knee, I guess🙁😏

I had been starving all day and before my workout I ate oatmeal. When I came home I had salmon on cucumber and celery slices and roasted cauliflower. If I was going to eat everything in sight, I had to at least make it healthy food!

Of course I went from starving to stuffed so I ended up working out a second time. I did a half hour Pinterest workout that had push-ups, mountain climbers, squats, wall sit, jumping jacks, planks, lunges and high knees in it. Thankfully I feel just right now:)

Teaching:

Today was pretty chill with the children. I still have four away so it makes it tough to cover content. Math went completely sideways on me today. We were doing a worksheet on using two coloured counters to create equations that equal ten. Well my children seem to love making patterns so they all coloured the blocks in nice patterns and so all the equations turned into 5+5=10.🤣. Thankfully we’ve covered this concept other ways too, so it wasn’t the end of the world:)

We did snowflakes for art today. We read the book, Snowflake Bentley by Jacqueline Briggs Martin.<<<<<<<<<br
d circles and folded them and then cut into them to make interesting snowflakes. I like doing art projects that are a little more simple or old fashioned sometimes so the children get the idea they don't need an electronic game to entertain them at home! Our classroom now looks like a blizzard hit it😂 Reading:

I’m still working my way through my current book, so nothing new to report there. I do however have my next three books laid out waiting for me, so I need to get this one finished. Tonight I’ve made good progress as I’ve had the luxury of having a night where I knit a pattern repeat and then read a chapter:)

Knitting:

My Cowl is coming along. I’m liking the lace pattern, though I’m a little worried that it might be too stiff:( I don’t like cowls that stand up, I prefer when they drape nicely. I guess we’ll just have to see.

Tea:

My tea today was David’s Tea Honeycrisp Apple. It was super good! I think it would be an excellent fall tea. It didn’t get bitter even when it had been left for hours in my insulated thermos:)

On the note of drinking- I’m good about drinking water. I usually finish my one litre water bottle every day, but lately my lips are still dry:) This is driving me nuts so if anyone has any ideas of how to solve this problem, I’d love to hear them. I keep them covered in lip balm ( and yes mom, only gluten free lip balm)and they are still dry.

Well I’m going back to my knitting and reading pattern.

Have fun!

  1. Two workouts in a day, wow, that’s pretty amazing! ☺
Love how the snowflakes turned out.
Stubborn dry lips are irritating! I find that occasional dabs of coconut oil help with mine.

    1. They weren’t my normal workouts:(
Thank you- Some of the snowflakes are awesome and others, not do much😂
I will try some coconut oil:)

    1. Oh wow! That’s a lot of cutting. I remember spending hours cutting out snowflakes as a kid!
I put some baseline on before bed so we’ll see if it helped

  2. The last time I had really dry lips that nothing seemed to help I used honey. I dabbed a bit on about three times a day. It helped a lot but I don’t know with these really cold temps you’re getting.

    1. Ok I will try that. It’s actually not that cold here, that’s why I was surprised I was having trouble with my lips. It’s about 5 each day ( 40)

  3. The snowflakes are a wonderful project! Simple to do but a surprising result.
My skin and lips are dry. I’ve tried everything from the skincare aisle but think coconut oil is my next step too.

  4. I remember making snowflakes that way when I was in school! I’m pretty sure I had an obsession and would make them constantly at home during winter lol.
I would try drinking more than just one liter of water! Everything gets so dry in the winter. And maybe get a more heavy duty lip balm to use right before bed. Also try exfoliating your lips. I just take warm water on my toothbrush and gently scrub to get rid of dead skin.

    1. I spent hours making snowflakes at home too.
I’ll try but one litre is a lot of water for someone my size😂
Both good ideas, I’ll give them a shot! I tried Vaseline before bed last night.

      1. Fair enough! Just a suggestion for the water 🙂
I exfoliate my lips every other night usually and I find it helps. Alex was in love when he tried it for the first time and does it semi regularly when his lips are really dry.

      2. Oh I will definitely try to up my water, just don’t know if I’ll be successful😜
I exfoliated this morning like you suggested so we’ll see if that works:)

  5. You have such busy days, I remember when! They were so much fun at the time, so much life to live.😄 I vote for coconut oil or Vaseline, this time of year I think a whole layer peels off my lips every morning…ugh!

    1. It just seems tiring to me right now! After experiencing my parent’s life, I’d like to be retired!
I tried Vaseline last night so we’ll see how that goes

  6. I hope it is just slightly bruised. ! So sorry but glad someone cared to see if you were ok.
I wear lipstick all the time and it seems to help my lips keep from chapping. Do you cover your mouth with a cowl ? You could do that inside for a bit and see if it helps ….

    1. Yes it was nice to be checked on:)
Hmmm I never thought of wearing my Cowl over my lips. I’d better hurry up and finish knitting my Cowl!

  7. Sounds like you have tried everything I was going to suggest for your lips. I use several types of products every day, starting with coconut oil and moving on to Carmex in a tube. Sometimes during the day I use Blistex also, in addition to lipstick and gloss. That and tons of water all day is all I know to do. Good luck!

  8. It’s always good to know Kimdness still exist. I hope your knee feels better soon. Love the art project I totally enjoyed the snowflake project when I was in school we even use glitter for a little extra magic shine. 😊

    1. Oh that’s a good idea!! I don’t normally block cowls because I figure fit doesn’t really matter, but perhaps I’ll try blocking this one:) Thanks for the idea!

  9. You may want to try oil pulling for dry lips, it’s a an ancient Ayurvedic tradition where you lightly swish about a tbs of oil between your teeth for 10-20 minutes before spitting it out (coconut oil seems to work best). By the time you’re finished the lips are usually coated, and it’s supposed to be good for oral health too (Mayo clinic websites supports it). I may only work for a few hours but seems to help me (it’s been in the negative degree temps in Minnesota for the most part the last few weeks). Also before I go to sleep I always apply a thick coating of Badger Sleep Balm, and usually keeps the lips from drying out during the dry air filled night : )

    1. My Chapstick has to be gluten free so I have special stuff, but I have upped my water intake a bit. It’s tough though as I’m the size of an eight year old so one litre is already a lot for me!

      1. Ya who knew!! Everyone thought I picked at my lip out of nerves, then someone suggested maybe there was gluten in them. There was and it was instantaneous relief- haven’t picked at my lip since
