Wow, a few times today it almost seemed like I was a competent, organized adult!🤣
Teaching:
Well we got through the items on the plan today, but doing math in the afternoon is not the answer! It kept us on track time wise but I was ready to tear my hair out and I think the children were too! Skip counting by 5s requires some more practice!
I did however get my three report cards written today so I’m also on track for that as well:)
Socializing:
I met up with s friend and old colleague for a coffee after school and it was great to see her! She of course looked fabulous after a week in Mexico, but it was nice to hear everything is falling into place for her as she had some tough years. It was a quick coffee but we managed to meet on the first try which might be a record for us! I also managed to deliver her Christmas present! I can only hope I’m as organized with the rest of my gifts, but I doubt it!
Shopping:
I was also organized enough today to remember to run in and grab my hummus, shampoo and milk before I came home. I’m impressing myself as I’m the queen of forgetfulness!
Exercise:
I made myself go out right away when I got home as I knew if I sat down it wouldn’t happen. I actually ended up having a really great run! I was super consistent in my speed the whole time and it was the fastest run I’ve had in a couple of weeks. I wish they could all be like this!
Reading:
I finished my latest book today, The Rancher’s Twins by Carol Ross. It is the start of The Return of the Blackwell Brother’s series.
This is the story of Jon and Lydia. Jon is an organic rancher who has spread his wings from his family’s ranch to follow his beliefs. Lydia is on the run from a tough situation and being Jon’s nanny in the middle of nowhere, Montana suits her needs perfectly.
I really loved the characters in this story. They were realistic and interesting. Jon has a past that he is finding it difficult to overcome and he often finds it difficult to separate his past and his present. Lydia finds herself having to learn everything new on a two week timeline. I think her life is summed up by the cliche when it rains it pours. However, both of these characters also present a great aide of people. Jon makes time to help friends and family and Lydia makes herself many new friendships within the town.
While the plot had some events that I predicted early on, it was interesting enough that I would have liked to have skipped work to stay home and read! It also had some surprises at the end and I liked how it avoided unnecessary drama.
If you enjoy the employer-employee storyline or a good rural ranching story, you should take the time to read this story.
Thank you to the author for giving me a free copy in exchange for an honest opinion.
I am really looking forward to reading the next book in the series!
Movie:
As I was casting on I watched another Hallmark Christmas movie, Enchanted Christmas. This movie features a husband wife acting team and it always makes me wonder what it would be like to work with your spouse. That must make for a lot of togetherness. The movie is cute and has enough storylines to keep it interesting, though I was left wondering why the best friend is always at their house?
Knitting:
I have frogged the vest and started the poncho, but I really just want to go to bed now!!
Have fun!
AJ
I hope you haven’t watched at least one of the Christmas movies I have recorded lol. I’m looking forward to our Christmas movie night!
I’m sure I haven’t:) I’m looking forward to it too! It doesn’t matter if I’ve seen it, I’ll happily watch it again!
So on your own report card you got an “A” for “adulting” … I have my moments when I succumb to “adulting” too. 🙂
Heehee it’s once in a blue moon as I can ignore a lot of things for my books and knitting
And I ignore most of my responsibilities for blogging, walking and picture-taking. I amaze myself that I can just walk past messes in the house, or see a film of dust and just walk by it without a care in the world. Hey, life is short – you must not spend it dusting and weeding (another thing I’m very bad at getting done).
Exactly! It will all still be there when you’re ready to do it
Which isn’t too often, but I try … (when it rains or is crummy) … this Saturday will be a soaker so I’ll work in the house … big concession on my part!
Lol I have Sunday free and don’t plan to do any housework!
I have to do the outside yard work Sunday (ugh) – Monday is the last day for our yard waste so if I don’t do it, it has to stay on the back porch til mid-April. I’m not looking forward to it and will be raking wet leaves on top of it. If I do it tomorrow, I can’t take it out or the City will fine you for putting your yard waste out before your trash day so we have rain on Saturday and the bags will get soaked and may tear/break so I have to wait. I am behind the 8 Ball due to all the rain and blustery weather we had in October and so far in November.
Organized? Who needs it. LOL!! Well, I guess it does help things run smoothly.
Sometimes but I seem to survive even with my lack of organization
sounds like such a nice time catching up with your friend!! And girl, I feel you on the forgetfulness- in college my roommate kept a running tally of the # of times I forgot my ID hahah. It was rough. But sounds like you’ve been having a good streak! Have a great thanksgiving 🙂
It was a great change to not have forgotten something! It doesn’t happen often:(
Happy thanksgiving to you too!
What a great day! Successfully adulting always feels good, especially when it works out the way you want it to 🙂
For sure and it happens so rarely for me!
I bet it happens more than you realize 🙂
It doesn’t feel like it
