Definitely not my typical Boxing Day- no parties and no shopping.

The day came early at 4:30am and I was at the airport for 6:10am. I had quite the wait, but spent it catching up on the reader and making my photos smaller in the hopes of freeing up space for more photos.

I did finally arrive in Phoenix this afternoon. All was good until I discovered that I’ve lost my storage case and charging cord for my Aftershockz headphones☹️😫😥😢. I have emailed the airline but I don’t hold out much hope. I also emailed the company in the hopes I can purchase a cord and case. Next step will be try to contact Visa. I really hate when I do this type of thing:(

I got a very nice hug from my mom and I plan to get many more in the next week. Have to build up my stores to get through another 2.5 months! We managed to get out of the airport without yelling which is quite amazing!

We stopped in at Fry’s in Maricopa on the way home and I was amazed at the selection of Free From products. I tried to be good as I’d like to go home weighing less!

I had sent yarn and needles down with my mom and brought a free Ravelry pattern called “Waiting for Spring”. I got the ribbing done and made do with yarn for a stitch marker, but I may be in trouble as it now calls for changing to a larger circular needle and I only sent one set of circular needles down. Do you think I can just go on in the same size needle?

I have already made myself at home and taken over my dad’s Netflix. I was super excited to see The Great British Baking Show as I’ve read about it on so many blogs. I loved it!! I liked how I could just listen and the fact that they were nice to each other and helped each other out. I will definitely be trying to watch more of this series before I go home!

Now I’m onto a Hallmark Christmas movie- Christmas Inheritence. So far it’s cute!

Well, that’s it for me:)

Have fun!

  1. Oh yay, you saw it!!! You can also search it on yours, that’s how I find all the Australian shows 😂
Other than misplacing your charge cord it sounds like a good Boxing Day to me!

  2. Oh, is the Great British Baking Show the Great British Bake-off? Paul Hollywood judging – and Mary Berry or Pru Leith?? How exciting, we always enjoy that. Happy home trip!

  3. Great post! There are so many things I can connect to. I’ve enjoyed watching the British Baking Show. I’ve seen that Christmas movie title on Netflix but we’ve been watching more kid Christmas movies. Christmas Chronicles is great! I’m sorry you lost some stuff. I hate when I lose stuff too. I’d love to hear more about Boxing Day. I am not very familiar with this at all. I read a Christmas Traditions book by Ace Collins and he discussed the history of Boxing Day a little but I’d love to hear how people usually actually celebrate it today. Thanks for sharing! Have a Happy New Year! 💖

    1. Oh I’m so glad to hear you could connect- makes me feel normal 🤣
I so enjoyed that show and may need to binge watch it every night until I go home!
We watched Christmas chronicles last weekend when the family was all together! It was good, though I have to admit I don’t love the ‘candid camera’ style.
Boxing Day in Canada is a national holiday. It is often used for open house parties in the afternoon. The morning is known for shopping time as it is often the best sales of the year! Similar to your Black Friday but we don’t open early or line up or anything

  4. I’m glad you arrived safely in Phoenix and hope you will have a fantastic visit with your folks. I’d love to watch the Great British Baking Show. Finding it on our cable setup won’t be easy.

      1. He would definitely enjoy it as they have a technical challenge which was mincemeat tarts on the one I watched and then two other tasks- one was a cake with sugar globe and the other one I don’t remember. It was very cool as I liked how kind they were.

  5. That show is so addictive. Were you close on gauge for the sweater? If you were a little loose I would just go ahead with the same needle knowing I might have to rip it out. Or I would use it as an excuse to check out the yarn stores around Phoenix.

  6. It’s wonderful when you find a show you love, especially if it’s a cooking one. 🙂 As for the knitting, I’m with @mildlygranola – if you continue with the smaller ones that you used for the ribbing, you might end up with a smaller sweater unless you knit loose, so you might be safer getting larger ones!
Happy holidays, and have a great time with family!

    1. I think I’m going to try going on with the small needles and see how it goes. If I have to rip out, I will, but usually I have to adjust everything down.

  7. Phoenix sounds heavenly and the hugs do as well – do get your share of them while you are there. Glad you made it there safely AJ .. do your folks winter in Phoenix every year or just pick a random warm weather spot to stay for the cold?

    1. This is their third year coming to Arizona. We thought they would try new places but my dad seems to like the middle of nowhere:)

  8. glad your travel went, almost, smoothly. hope you enjoy your time with your parents, at least you get to warm up a bit before going back home to the north. I just finished watching the Great American Baking Show… whatever it is called. a holiday version with American contestants. Paul Hollywood has the bluest eyes!

  9. I love how you treasure your family and hugs. I am trying to enjoy the time we have with zach this week. His kitten is adorable. We all spend time with him in the room we are keeping him in. I miss my girl. She left yesterday .

    1. Family is everything to me:) A new kitty is always fun! I’m glad Zach has this time with you at home as that will re-energize him for January!

  10. Enjoy your time with your family, and away in Arizona with the sun and the warmth! The Great British Bake-Off is the best! We are all hooked on it, even my DH, who does not bake and never will. We love how nice they are to each other (mostly) too 🙂
