I had a fellow blogger just comment that I was about to post my day’s content. I didn’t find my day predictable and boring, but maybe I am 🤣
I got my dishwasher unloaded, loaded and turned on. Sometimes it’s the small steps that matter🤣. I also took the opportunity of my day off to go pay my utility bill. I don’t like paying them early, but I do like ticking things off my list:)
I finished another NetGalley book last night, Believe in Me by Ella Quinn.
This book tells the story of Lady Augusta Withers, the Worthington who spends her time learning as much as she can about languages and geography. Her mother worries about how such a learned lady will find a husband, but even with this concern she forces Augusta to undergo a season, rather than heading directly for university in Italy. Augusta is sure she won’t find a man who interests her until she meets Phineas Carter Wood, a man who is focused on learning about architecture, but who also has to find a wife and have a child ASAP. As they end up in the same traveling party throughout Europe, maybe they will find a way to bring their lives together.
The highlights of this book include the characters and the setting. I liked how the same crazy, big, loud and loving Worthington family is present in this book. You have to love all the different personalities, though for me I really liked how Augusta was so focused on education in a time when that just wasn’t done, how Phinn was shocked at first but then supportive in every way he could be and how Grace quietly and calmly ensures things turn out as they should.
I also felt like the setting details added to this book. It was a delightful tour of Europe and actually seemed quite realistic.
The ending of the story was lovely!
This is a great read and I’d recommend it to anyone who has ever dreamt of going on The Grand Tour.
Thank you to the writer, publisher and NetGalley for the free ARC in exchange for an honest review.
While I was out I grabbed my Bookclub book from the library and started, The Other Alcott. I hope it’s good as it was my pick.
Of course, I have spent a lot of today reading an RS Grey book. I always seem to get sucked into reading her books in one day. I’ll let you know my thoughts tomorrow.
I had made plans to meet two friends for a late lunch and movie. We got Cactus Club for lunch and I had my first tuna poke bowl. It was good, but how could it not be with tuna, avocado and mango in it:)
We saw Isn’t it Romantic where Revel Wilson is stuck in a romantic comedy. I love romantic comedies so this was good for me, though it is silly at times. However, it has an awesome soundtrack!
When I went to city hall and the library today I realized my trusty sidewalk was actually too slippery since all the rain had turned the snow to slush. Hmmmm.
I ended up just doing a quick and dirty workout (it’s name) this evening. I did 5 rounds of: 15 pushups, 15 plié squats, 15 squat thrusters and 15 bicycle crunches. It’s not much but it’s at least something!
Well after my late night reading last night, I think I’ll go curl up in bed and hope I finish my book earlier tonight!
