It’s been quite the day of work!

Teaching:

I slept for extra time this morning and then headed into work. This morning we got our journal done, we started learning about 3D objects, and this afternoon we tackled our Father’s Day projects. It doesn’t seem like much, but yet I was running all day! It really didn’t help that the children were called in at lunch because of a bear sighting:(

Exercise:

After writing another five report cards after school, I headed home and got out for a run! It was a beautiful night and I finally felt pretty good at the halfway mark. There’s another 4.5km covered for the yearly goal:). I am feeling the lack of my weights lately though so I did my 50 banded squats, 50 plié squats, and 100 lunges. I need to do more so my running feels easy again, but it was at least a start!

Knitting:

I have spent the evening knitting endless stockinette while watching a movie.

Movie:

I’ve been watching When Sparks Fly tonight. It was a cute movie, though some of the acting was truly awful! 🤣. I often wonder if July 4th is really celebrated how it’s portrayed. I’m always disappointed by the July 1st celebrations I’ve been to:(

Eating:

Breakfast: 1/2 cup fruit salad, 1/3 cup yogurt and some granola

Recess: hard boiled egg and a chorizo sausage

Lunch: tuna snack kit, a snack size bag of chips (my team won the pizza party for jog a long, but I couldn’t eat the pizza so they gave me chips)

Snack: apple, larabar

Dinner: Thai salad

Not perfect. I have great weekends, but then I return to work and it all goes downhill:(

Well that’s it for me tonight.

Have fun!

  1. They have a lot of parades and fireworks displays here for the 4th of July and they sell firecrackers which people shoot off from Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day weekend (unfortunately). They do make a big deal out of the July 4th holiday.

      1. No I wasn’t. I guess I want a more old fashioned celebration where there are craft displays, baking competitions and races for the kids

      2. I agree – here it is all about the noise! People were allowed to shoot off big fireworks in residential neighborhoods 30 days per year … the new governor has limited it to 12 days per year (thank goodness). They shoot it off anyway and I don’t have a dog but every dog in the neighborhood goes crazy.

      3. Wow that must be something. It’s illegal here to do fireworks or firecrackers without a permit, but people still do it, but it seems only at Halloween

      4. Well, they never should have started it here to be honest with you. Our former governor, with no political experience, but was a CPA for Gateway Computers, was trying to “make a buck” for Michigan. A lot of people would travel to Ohio and buy their fireworks as they were illegal here. So, first the governor made them legal here, then allowed the large firecrackers. I can go to Meijer and buy a variety pack for around $79.00 or so and there are every type of boomer around … big ones too. But people complained because neighbors shot them every night, not just holidays – it was out of control. And they don’t start til late. And, also – the PTSD sufferers, especially the veterans, were especially bothered, so they finally, just recently, designated 12 days only to shoot them off. That’s 11 days too many INHO!

  2. My favorite July 4ths were in Fort Collins, C0 where the symphony plays the 1812 Overature with the fireworks in the city park. Our college church group would sit together and hand crank ice cream in the afternoon, then have a cookout before the fireworks.
