Grateful Sunday #1

I put number one because I’d really like this to become a regular thing! I have so much to be thankful for and yet it’s so easy to concentrate on the negative- but that’s not who I want to be, so I’ll make the effort!

Exercise:

It was just Dennis and I this morning because Brenda was delayed out of town. I left the choice of run up to him and boy did he pick a doozy! We ran from my place out to the marina where my parents used to have their boat and back. It turned out to be a great run and I definitely felt like I earned my tea!

This evening I decided I should try to work off a few nibbles so I did a combo workout. Started with a minute of cardio and then did 36 reps of a weight exercise, and kept repeating this using different cardio and different weight moves. I ended up doing:

Bicep curls, jog, deadlift, Skip, squats, high knees, plie squats, moguls, reverse lunges, toe taps, rows, jog, bridges, Skip, sit ups, high knees, shoulder press, moguls, lateral lunges, toe taps.

As I write this I realize I could have done jumping jacks and criss cross jacks. I should really have a list of weight moves and cardio so I can just choose as I go and don’t have to try and remember them!

Grateful for the fact that I have an awesome running buddy who believes in my abilities when I don’t and is incredibly encouraging!

Grateful to have a body that can run 10km with no prior notice!

House:

I was about to go pick up some dried fruits, but saw my helpless girl student going into the store with her dad, and so turned around and came home. I spent a good three hours cleaning my house. It’s as good as it’s going to get!

Grateful to have a nice, bright, warm and cosy place to live:)

Cooking:

I didn’t really cook, but got the nuts put out, the meat trays done and the roast beef wrapped pickled asparagus ready. Tomorrow I will just have to put out the crackers and the cheese. I am supposed to be doing charcuterie, but with my allergies I decided to do the different elements separately as it always drives me crazy when I go to a party and they ruin it for me by putting stuff together. Plus I only have one small board:(

Grateful for the fact that I have so many food options these days! While it would have been nice not to spend my childhood sick, it sure wouldn’t have been easy to deal with dairy and gluten allergies back then!

Grateful also to have friends who put up with my quirks and are fun to be around!

Knitting:

I finally texted my friends and said I was done with cleaning because I wanted to do some knitting today. I finally found a bag pattern in my book, sock Yarn One Skein Wonders. I am just about to start the bag body, so I’ll be sure to let you know how it goes.

I really need to get going on knitting cause I am only on project thirty and my goal for this year was forty!😳

Grateful to have a hobby that allows me to sit on the couch and still be productive.

Grateful to have had my mom and my grandmas who taught me all these needle arts!

Grateful to enjoy this beautiful view while I am knitting. I think I’m pretty lucky to not even have to leave the house to enjoy the Fall colours.

Eating:

It started out really well as I had a bag of running chews on my run, a slice of apple bread, leftover Cambodian curry, and two peppers with cream cheese. Unfortunately this afternoon while I was prepping food, I nibbled:( I’m noticing that I often fall down on my eating on Sundays. Maybe I need to have a definite plan and food made for Sunday, like I do during the week. This week is going to be interesting food wise as I bought food for my get together tomorrow rather than my usual weekly groceries, so I’ll be eating out of my cupboards and freezer. We’ll see how it goes.

Grateful that I love to cook and bake so I can have interesting, healthy food!

Grateful I have a mom who helps me to work towards my goals, even if she thinks they’re silly.

Well that’s my day in a nutshell.

Have fun!

AJ

Unscheduled

An odd thing for me- but my day didn’t have a plan. It turned out just fineπŸ˜€πŸ€£

Exercise:

A 6.3km run this morning. We ran Coquitlam River and I just trotted along at a slightly slow pace while Dennis did circles around me. We agreed to the shortcut on one side and then I took the longer route on the other end. We got to the bridge in 30 minutes so someone (not me!) had the brilliant plan to add on. I only needed 5.1km today, but I love how Dennis always pushes me. One thing I noticed was that I run much faster on concrete than I do on the trails! I’m finding since my last fall that I’m quite cautious when running the trails.

Shopping:

Hmm what did I do today- I went to Chapters and returned two things I had been gifted that were too big. I looked around, but felt guilty buying a new cookbook when I haven’t finished trying out all the ones I have. I’ll hold off until I think of something I really need.

We managed to stop off at the thrift store and I found a cute new outfit for work and a new pair of running shorts.

Eating:

I’ve had an extremely good eating day- a homemade granola bar, 3/4 of a plate of fish and chips and cucumber slices with cheese. If only every day could be like these past two- the pounds would be gone in no time!

House:

My mom talked me into cleaning the patio today. We started at the top and made our way down. It looks so great! I really need to put a quick cleaning on the calendar each month to keep it looking this good. I want to be out there all the time:). Too bad it’s supposed to rain a lot this week:(

Movies:

My mom and I binged Hallmark movies on our last night. We watched the end of Ms Matched which we had started last night. This movie was cute, but the unrealistic ending really bugged me!

We moved onto a new Hallmark movie- Eat, Drink and Be Married. We both agreed this was a really bad Hallmark movie. The script, the plot and the acting were all bad:(

Finally we watched Love at First Dance which was super cute!

Well tomorrow is back to reality.

Have fun!

Waiting, Waiting

I spent the day nervous and it turned out not to be necessary.

Exercise:

I didn’t get up early this morning as the sun is still not rising until 7:58! I just assumed I’d only do one thing today, but amazingly I got out of work early enough that the sun was still up and I could get out for a run in daylight!!!πŸ˜€πŸ˜€. It felt great!! My Runkeeper program was driving me crazy though. It was telling me I was doing a 5:55 km, but I think it was just because a text came in as when I stopped, the program said I was doing a 6:07. Everything seems to affect this app:( and then my phone died so I couldn’t even get a picture of the beautiful, sunny day to show you! It was eight degrees when I was out running today:) Still it was so nice to be out in daylight with music and no rain!!!

I also went to athletic yoga again this week. It was even better than last week because I knew what to expect! It’s quite the workout for my arms and core so that’s great!! You get into a yoga position and then you do weights while holding the position. Some of them were quite the challenge!

Teaching:

I spent the day worrying about whether having to sit out five minutes of gym was going to set my behaviour boy off again, but it didn’t! I guess I worried all day for no reason😏.

We did printing, a friendship song, adding using a number line, computers, gym and brainstorming community jobs. One of the children told me this morning that that wasn’t a lot of work for the day. I’m glad they think that way!

Our math was fun today as we had turkey races along a number line. Roll the die and move that many spaces to the left while saying the addition equation. It was awesome to see them all having so much fun! One little guy came up to me after and said, “thanks for letting us play instead of doing math”. Yes! I have succeeded:)

It was a busy day at work as I was once again acting principal, but not a bad day. I am looking forward to the fact that tomorrow is Friday!

Tea:

I had David’s Tea Hot Chocolate tea and I didn’t drink any of it. I am not a fan of chocolate so this tea just wasn’t for me:(

Knitting:

This morning I sat down to do one square on my Entrelac Cowl and suddenly I looked up and it was time to go to work!! I do t know where the time went.

I wanted to work some more on my Cowl tonight, but I had to tidy my house as knit night is at my place tomorrow night. For a change I got stuff done that needed to be done- sweeping, cleaning, dishes, bathrooms, etc. I love having a clean house, unfortunately I like doing my hobbies more so it rarely happens. The place is always tidy, but not necessarily clean.🀣

Reading:

I’m still reading the same chick lit, All Out of Love by Lori Wilde . It’s taking forever because it hasn’t really grabbed me. I did read for the first half of my lunch hour this week and it was lovely! What a nice break to the day! I’ll have to keep it up and hopefully it will also help me get back on track for my Goodreads goal. Can you tell that being told I’m behind bothers me?πŸ˜‚

Well that’s it for me tonight!

Have fun!
