Getting Back To It

It’s been another quiet day, but that’s probably a good thing before the chaos starts again on Monday.

Exercise:

I met up with Sarah for a run this morning. We got a little lost, as usual, but it was fun!

This evening I managed to get out for a walk as well. It wasn’t running so I figured I had better get it while it was good:)

I also did squats and a plank for the second day. Need to start building up the muscle again. I swear they all atrophied while I was laying on the couch last week🤣

Family:

Well we finally settled on a place to rent for Christmas next year. It only took two days. It was a tough decision because there was one that was an amazing deal but required the kids to sleep on air mattresses if there was the gorgeous one with enough beds but double the price. We’re going to go with the amazing deal as we can do a lot of events for all that money. It’s tough to do group things as there are just so many different personalities in my family. It will be interesting to see if we survive our first family holiday together.😳

Baking:

I grabbed a few groceries after my run and made a batch of Bisquick biscuits to use up the bisquick I had in the cupboard. They looked good, but were super crumbly. I think it was just the nature of Bisquick, or at least that’s my story and I’m sticking to it.

Movies:

I watched A Shoe Addict’s Christmas with Candace Cameron Bure this afternoon and loved it. It is such a cute movie! It follows the basic outline of A Christmas Carol but its shoes that move her through time. Most of the shoes were gorgeous so of course it gets my vote for being a good movie!

Knitting;

I also finished up the cowl I had started earlier. It used up three skeins of yarn and was a super easy knit while turning out pretty. It used Morena yarn and the free pattern off Ravelry called Cowl for Coba. This is a “no think” pattern that shows off yarn very nicely.

I am happy with how it turned out.

I have also spent some time weaving in ends on my temperature scarf. I feel like I may be old and gray before I get them all finished.

Well I’m going back to watch another Hallmark movie:)

On My Way

This morning came way too soon after being up late doing laundry!

Exercise:

I knew I had to be up and out quickly for my run this morning in order to get everything done. I did a quick loop over to the park, around the park and home. Just thirty minutes, but I know I will appreciate moving when I’m sitting in the car all day!

Trip:

I grabbed Starbucks and was off to meet Brenda. We got away with no problems and stopped only twice on the way up.

It was a super productive road trip for me as I got all the stockinette on my sweater body done on the my ya up. Maybe I will have a few minutes to get the ribbing down tomorrow:)

We got to Brenda’s parent’s place in time for tea and it was great to meet her brothers and sisters because of course I’ve heard about them all on our runs, so now I have faces to go with names:)

We headed over to our friend’s place about five O’clock and only made one wrong turn, pretty good for not having directions🤣

Unfortunately K had trouble at work and so was home late, but R was a great host. We visited for a bit and then headed out to grab pizza. I never knew that Panago Pizza does gluten free and dairy free pizza! It was so good! I’ve looked it up and there is one two blocks from me at home! I will definitely be getting some!

We had a lovely visit and ended the night with a hot tub. I so miss having a hot tub!!! I’m nice and warm and snug so now I’m going to bed!

Lazing in the Sun

A quiet day spent on my favourite things:)

Exercise:

I got out this morning for another run along the BLM fence. I was aiming for the second mile marker, but didn’t make it. Next time we drive into town I’ll have to take better note of a landmark around there. I did circles around my mom who was walking instead. My phone was acting really weird though. It gave my pace as 6:18, 6:28, 6:44 while I was running, but recorded times over 7min when I looked at my splits afterwards. I can’t tell you which is right because the run still felt really difficult today:( Well at least I ran and maybe tomorrow will be better.

I got a quick body weight workout in while my parents were at the happy hour. Fifty squats, fifty curtsy lunges, fifty push-ups, fifty dips, fifty second planks, 50 reverse crunches, 50 crunches, 10 box crunches, 25 flutter kicks, 25 leg drops, 50 side leg raises, 50 back leg raises, 50 jabs, 50 uppercuts. There may have been more, but I can’t remember them at this point. I’m just trying not to lose all my fitness on this trip as that would make going back to Lyndsay’s workouts really tough!!!😳

Knitting:

I got my toque made today and thankfully only had to tink three rows this time. I forgot and put the ponytail hole in the nice part rather than near the seam. It is not as big and thick as I like my toques, but it is super soft:)

Reading:

I spent some time in the sunshine this afternoon listening to Jane Eyre again on Librivox. I am enjoying the book and think that I can actually finish by New Years. Abbey I am on chapter 28 now:). Only ten chapters to go. I will do some more tonight once my headphones recharge.

Movies:

I found the hallmark movies on my parent’s tv today and watched The Pumpkin Pie War. It was definitely not one of the best movies and having to listen to my dad whine, didn’t help! 🤣. I think I’d better keep my Hallmark habit to when I’m alone so I don’t torture other people! I got halfway through A Crush On You and will try to watch the rest as my dad is currently watching Avatar at high volume.

It has been another lovely day in Arizona:)

Chilling in the October Sunshine

A true holiday! I figure I might as well write early tonight as I’m in on the couch already.

Exercise:

Absolutely none except for a walk to and from the hospital (about three blocks total). I had plans for a long run today as it’s a holiday here, but then I slept in until 8:20 and stayed in my jammies until noon. I’m not sure I’ve ever done that before!🤣

Socializing:

I met up with my running buddy Brenda and we went to visit our other running buddy who was rushed to emergency at 3am Saturday morning. It turns out she had a pulmonary embolism and they also corrected her asthma diagnosis to COPD:( She was hoping to come home today but it looks like it will be another few days at least. We took her some things – lotion, mints, a novel, magazines, a notepad and pens to keep her entertained and hopefully comfortable. She says she’s feeling better than she has in a while. It’s great she gets this awesome private room with a garden view because she spent 45 minutes in a hospital in Holland😂. I don’t ever really like visiting hospitals- already spent enough time in them, but today wasn’t so bad because we got to sit out in this gorgeous little garden in the sunshine:)

I also went up this evening to let Sarah, my other running buddy’s dogs out as her and her man were both working. It was a fun half hour:)

I have also been tagged for the very first time on the blog today. I require some help before I can fulfill this tag though- can someone please tell me how I can link to someone’s blog in my blog. I often want to mention someone’s blog on mine, but don’t j ow how to do this properly so they’re name is a link to their blog. I’d appreciate any help anyone can give. You may have guessed, I’m not the most techy person! Actually when I worked for the university, they told me it would be cheaper for me to go interrupt someone else and have them do what I needed than to keep having to fix the electronic devices I touched 🤣🤣 (unfortunately a true story with no embellishment).

Eating:

It’s a tie between breakfast and lunch for the best meal of the day! Lunch was a turkey, dressing and cranberry sauce sandwich, arguably the best part of Thanksgiving is the turkey sandwich the next day:). Breakfast, which was very late as I wasn’t very hungry when I got up, was a hash using the bacon cornbread stuffing from yesterday. I took a half cup of the stuffing and put it in the fry pan to heat and then broke an egg over it and allowed that to cook. When I slid it onto my plate, I frayed a half ounce of jalapeño cheese over the top. Woah was it ever good! This was definitely the way to eat this stuffing!

Crafting:

I got down to my old house (wish I had never seen this sight😞😖 and cut the lavender there as well as at my friend Sarah’s place. It will be used for the Christmas gifts I’m making for my friends. I don’t think I have enough though. If anyone knows where to get dried lavendar or balsam fir, please tell me!

Knitting wise, I have now restarted my nephew’s scarf eight times! If nothing else, knitting is good for teaching perseverance. It isn’t even a tough project though! I have settled on a 2×2 rib and that’s just what it’s going to be! I was hoping to be done today, but I really don’t think that’ll happen. Maybe tomorrow. It has been lovely to sit here in the October sunshine and knit on this gorgeous holiday! I’ve been like a cat all day😂.

I’m ending my holiday with watching “The Inheritence“. It is a movie made out of the list novel of Louisa May Alcott. I picked it up at Orchard House this summer while I was there. My friends say they have never seen me buy something so quickly (yes I’m usually frugal and careful with my money), but I’d been looking for it for a while, so it was an easy decision when I saw it.
