Monday

I had absolutely no ambition today, really wanted to just stay in bed with my book!

Teaching:

We got through a journal, music class, gym class of What Time is it Mr. Wolf?, an assessment of place value, and a lesson on hibernation.

The kids were best during the assessment and I actually got the entire class done in one go- unheard of!

At the end of the day we went outside as it was sunny when we went. It started hailing, but the kids didn’t appear to even notice. I was a frozen popsicle by the end though!

I headed out quickly after school as I had a massage.

Reading:

I finished the book The Toffee Heiress by Sydney Jane Bailey. This is the second in the series and I enjoyed it as much as the first and have started on the third book now. It is complete fluff, but happy and enjoyable!

Knitting:

I had started a toque out of the yarn I bought in Burn’s Lake last year, but it just wasn’t right, so I’ve ripped it out and have started on a pair of mitts for myself. For a long time I had a grey pair of the Simplest Mittens in the World by TinCanKnits that I loved, but they got holes in them, so now I am replacing them. I really need to get going as it’s cold outside right now!

Netflix:

I have finished the Canadian Baking Show and Emily in Paris so far and am almost done Virgin River. If anyone knows of any other good chick flick things on Netflix, please let me know.

Well that’s it for my Monday.

Have fun!

Netflix and Knit

I know it’s not the saying, but it describes my day.

No exercise today other than two walks with the pup. Sarah cancelled on me which disappointed me, but I’ve now had four days of rest so that hip better behave tomorrow.

Oh as I write this, I realize I did do 20 minutes of upper body weights this morning, so I did do a little something.

House:

I actually still went home and did my chore of the day which was changing my sheets:). I’m not sure this will happen tomorrow, but at least I kept up on most of it.

Knitting:

I redid the front neckline that had broken on me when I was trying my Weekender sweater on. I went up a needle size so hopefully that will make it loose enough that it won’t break again.

I also ripped out the sleeve I had done so far and have redone it with a larger needle size. I will continue to work on that.

TV:

My brother seems to have every channel known to man, plus Netflix so I have been enjoying the third season of the Great Canadian Baking Show.

Now I have to go watch the finale.

Have fun!

Boxing Day

Definitely not my typical Boxing Day- no parties and no shopping.

Travel:

The day came early at 4:30am and I was at the airport for 6:10am. I had quite the wait, but spent it catching up on the reader and making my photos smaller in the hopes of freeing up space for more photos.

I did finally arrive in Phoenix this afternoon. All was good until I discovered that I’ve lost my storage case and charging cord for my Aftershockz headphones☹️😫😥😢. I have emailed the airline but I don’t hold out much hope. I also emailed the company in the hopes I can purchase a cord and case. Next step will be try to contact Visa. I really hate when I do this type of thing:(

Family:

I got a very nice hug from my mom and I plan to get many more in the next week. Have to build up my stores to get through another 2.5 months! We managed to get out of the airport without yelling which is quite amazing!

Shopping:

We stopped in at Fry’s in Maricopa on the way home and I was amazed at the selection of Free From products. I tried to be good as I’d like to go home weighing less!

Knitting:

I had sent yarn and needles down with my mom and brought a free Ravelry pattern called “Waiting for Spring”. I got the ribbing done and made do with yarn for a stitch marker, but I may be in trouble as it now calls for changing to a larger circular needle and I only sent one set of circular needles down. Do you think I can just go on in the same size needle?

Netflix:

I have already made myself at home and taken over my dad’s Netflix. I was super excited to see The Great British Baking Show as I’ve read about it on so many blogs. I loved it!! I liked how I could just listen and the fact that they were nice to each other and helped each other out. I will definitely be trying to watch more of this series before I go home!

Now I’m onto a Hallmark Christmas movie- Christmas Inheritence. So far it’s cute!

Well, that’s it for me:)

Have fun!

Still?!

A pretty quiet day of recovering. I’ve had enough of saying I’m sick so by tomorrow’s post I had better feel more myself!

Exercise:

I got a short run in this morning along a local trail. I did loops around my running buddies who were walking because they were sick. I probably should have taken my cue from them, but I was going slow!

This was my only exercise as I spent the rest of the day on the couch.

Socializing:

I’m calling this section socializing rather than eating because I haven’t managed to eat anything but ginger ale and one tea today:(

We tried a new coffee place after our run called Creekside Coffee Factory. I don’t drink coffee, but their coconut chai tea by Mighty Leaf was lovely. What I liked best about this coffee shop was how quiet it was! You could actually speak in a regular voice! You didn’t have to yell to be heard. It drives me crazy how loud coffeeshops and restaurants seem to be. I’m sure this makes me seem old, but I’m usually out with friends and it would be nice if I could actually converse with them. The inside of the coffee shop was very nice and invitingly decorated too.

I had book club tonight which is one of my favourite events so I had to go. I usually love it because it also gives me the chance to cook something g new because our food is always based on the theme of the book. Unfortunately, I couldn’t even stomach the thought of cooking today so I just took chips and salsa. When I was sitting at book club not eating any of the goodies laid out before me, I came to the conclusion that I’m sick:(

I had some of the chips and some more ginger ale. I was hoping they would work like saltines but they didn’t.

I always love to meet up with the girls and hear about what’s happening. It was a small group this time and only two of us had finished the book, so it turned more into just catching up. We both had a hard time getting into the book, but ended up loving it!

I didn’t have much to say as the girls were discussing shows they watch on Netflix. Some of them sounded very interesting, not, more like I could lose brain cells watching them!  (Of course some people would say that about the hallmark movies I watch on occasion too). Lol it reminded me that I’ve never been a big tv watcher. I was always reading a book as a kid and now I actually manage to exist without cable or Netflix. The only time it somewhat bugs me is when people have conversations that I can’t contribute to, lol.  I think I can live with that though!

Reading:

I’m working on the next Sarah Morgan book in the series, New York Actually, but haven’t finished it yet so I’ll keep my mouth shut for now:)

Knitting:

I loved some purple wool I found in my coffee table basket but knew it would be too scratchy to wear against my skin, so I’m making a pair of handwarmers out of it. I think it will be perfect and super warm for that! I haven’t finished this yet either.

Well, I’m going to go collapse on the couch with my book and knitting and try not to think about my stomach!  Maybe this would be one time it would be good if I had mindless tv to watch, but I’ll rely on a mindless trashy romance book instead:)

Have fun!
