What To Do

Another nice weekend day:)

Exercise:

I knew I had to run an hour today for the Squad Runner mission so Brenda arranged for us to run the dykes as it’s easy for me to get an hour in there. I started with a decent speed for me, but didn’t manage to maintain it the whole time. I don’t know why I’m slower on the dykes than around the inlet, maybe it’s too flat! I got 9km in so I was happy enough:). It was a gorgeous day for it!

I think my long term goals are to keep running and hopefully continue to get faster so I can do a 5km in 30 minutes and a 10km in an hour. I realize that for the majority of the population this is still slow, but it will be my challenge for a while, as my best 5km is 32 minutes right now.

My tea was definitely well deserved after that run:)

Groceries:

I managed to stop on my way home and pick up groceries for the week. I’m pretty impressed with myself that I bought only fruits, veggies and protein! The fruit salad is made and the eggs are hard boiled so hopefully this will set me up for a super healthy week. I’d like to make June a clean eating month for me. Track is over so that big stressor is gone. I still have report cards to do, but I bought grapes to snack on so hopefully that will do for my mindless eating while writing them!

Reading:

I finished my current NetGalley book, The Dater’s Handbook today. I received this book in exchange for an honest opinion.

This is the story of Cass and her struggle to find her perfect guy. On the advice of a book, she begins dating two guys- Robert and George. She learns the perfect guy doesn’t always look perfect on the list.

This is a very sweet romance novel that at times made me giggle out loud. Beware it does have a lot of character thinking in it, but for some reason that didn’t bother me as much as it usually does. I have to admit, I wanted to head butt the sister Nadia about a million times! She is so clueless! However, I also wouldn’t mind dating Robert:) If you’re looking for a sweet romance this is a great one.

I actually ended up watching the movie this afternoon too. I preferred the book because you got to hear Cass’ thoughts and it seemed to make it flow better and fill in some of the clunky transitions that exist in the movie. As well, the book has an epilogue and I always like knowing what happened to the characters down the road:)

What to Do:

This afternoon I had a knock on my door. I have no idea who it was or what they wanted because I didn’t answer it, I never do. I have a problem! I can’t see out of my peephole and dragging a stool over to do so, seems weird. The person at the door would hear me and then I’d be forced to open the door, even if I didn’t want to. I’m not sure how to solve this problem. It doesn’t happen often, but it would be nice to be neighborly if it’s a neighbor wanting to borrow sugar or something.🤔

Cooking:

As soon as I read Maureen’s recipe for buffalo cauliflower bites I knew I wanted to try them! I bought cauliflower and Frank’s Red Hot Buffalo Wing sauce today and gave them a go! They were super easy and very yummy!!! I just didn’t realize I had bought such a huge cauliflower- I only ate half and am still stuffed hours later! Definitely something I will make again, though it won’t cure a chicken craving🤣

Knitting:

I was so happy that I was a quarter of the way done the body of my sweater last night!! Today I noticed that the pattern at the side seam was off so I tinked back a couple of rows and then saw the problem was actually about five rows before that. I figured this was the time to try it on and see if it was worth fixing, so I fed a line of yarn through the live stitches and slipped it on. Amazingly the fit is awesome (I came down to only one strand of yarn and a full size smaller of needles), but I really didn’t like what the side pattern looked like:( It’s way too open and just looks messy, so I have spent all afternoon tinking back to the underarm joining. Not quite there yet, by almost and should be done tonight. I have this much still on the underarm- do you think I can change it from here or do I need to go right back to the very beginning of the underarm?I somehow don’t think I’m going to have this sweater done by Thursday night:(. I laughed at myself that here I am planning on removing some of the details that drew me to the sweater in the first place.🤣

Well I’m going to keep tinking.

Have fun!

All Sunshine and Rainbows

It was another lovely day:) Maybe this is a record😂😂

Exercise:

It was a nice treat that Sarah came out to join me for my run this morning. I had to do at least 43 minutes to finish my mission, and she wasn’t sure she could run that much, but we surprised ourselves and ran 45 minutes straight. Yelling at Kula to get out of the mud may have helped distract us from the time. How that dog managed to get muddy head to toe is beyond me! It was a gorgeous morning for a run and was starting to get warm by the time we finished.

The best running buddies!

This evening I went out for another run to start off the new mission. Figured if I did 5km tonight that meant I only had to do 5km Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday:). Somehow that seems much more doable to me than 20km🤣

Shopping:

I stopped to buy groceries right after my run. I figure this is a good time as a workout is fresh in my mind so hopefully will help keep me healthy at the grocery store. I didn’t do too badly, though I did spend more than I had planned. At least I have an eating plan for the week and not so much food in the house! I eat much better when there is less choice around-then my food is fuel rather than entertainment!

Crafting:

I was super productive on all of my projects today, or at least I touched them all:). I started the next square on my rug, I got another pattern repeat done on my tabard and I’m loving what it’s looking like! I got four rows done on the afghan, but am not going further tonight as I’m tired and I’m at the toe with the new -to-me stitch in it. I’ll wait until I’m fresh to tackle that!

Family:

My mom came over to help me clear my deck as they will be power washing it tomorrow. Last year I did it by myself but since I had advance warning this year, I asked for help. Some of my planters are the size of me! I took the opportunity to clean out all the dead plants and tidy up. I love having plants, but am thinking I may skip planting them this year as I always come home to dead plants after my holidays and it seems like a waste of money:(. I was telling my mom it’s a shame though as even those few minutes today were enjoyable:)

My mom and I also took the opportunity to go in and visit my aunt, uncle and cousin this afternoon. It’s my cousin’s 30th birthday tomorrow so it was good timing:)

Socializing:

I normally take every opportunity to go and do things so that I have something to write about each night, but I have to admit I skipped going to see the movie, Ready Player One today with my Bookclub. I know it would have been fun, but thought I should visit my family and it was a super sunny day, the first after many weeks of rain, so it just felt wrong to spend it in a movie theatre!

Reading:

I did spend some time reading on my sunny couch today though:). I started a new book on LibriVox. I had downloaded Moby Dick, but didn’t even make it through the first chapter- too many quotations and definitions! That is not at all what I thought Moby Dick would be like. So instead I started on The Age of Innocence. It is read by Elizabeth Klett who I know I enjoy listening to:)

Baking:

Last month I had taken a screenshot of a blueberry bisquick bake off of a blog. I’m so sorry that I can’t remember whose blog it was so can’t give credit:(. Today I made it up for my breakfasts for the week. It was super simple!

1.5 cups bisquick

1/3 cup sugar

1/2 cup coconut milk

1tsp vanilla

2 eggs

1/4 cup melted butter

Mix it all together, pour it into a greased pan (a 13×9 is way too big!) and then put blueberries on top and press them in. I then baked it for about 15 minutes. It called for 20-25 minutes in a 10×6 pan. They are okay, but a little dry. I think I will enjoy them with a touch of syrup all this week:)

Well that’s it for me:)

Have fun!

A Spring Tradition

It was a cold, but sunny spring day today, but definitely an improvement over our incessant rain of late!

Exercise:

My Squad Runner mission is for two hours by 3pm tomorrow and I was only at 21 minutes, so I got out for another quick 21 minutes this morning. It wasn’t the most successful run as I hadn’t eaten beforehand and was super hungry. It added a bit more time though:)

This evening I got out for a slightly more successful run of 35 minutes. It’s funny because when I am running there are times when I feel like I’m going nice and fast, but my phone clearly shows me I’m not fast, so I often wonder what I really look like?🤣. I know that I have gotten a little faster though as the local inlet trail now only takes 35 minutes rather than 40+😀

Socializing:

A few years ago my co- teacher introduced me to garage sales and it has become our tradition to go to the two community wide garage sales each year. I have to admit that that is enough garage saling for me for a year, but it’s still fun! Today was the first garage sale day. I quickly made a plan this morning as I navigate and my friend drives. We always start with the better parts of town and see how far we get. Today we actually got through 22 stops! I ended up spending $11 total and most of that was on books for my classroom. I also picked up lots of little freebies for the prize bag. In addition, I got a new word art piece for my house, an abs roller and a Lululemon workout top. Not a bad morning’s work. I’ll take a picture of the art for you all when I figure out where to hang it:)

Baking:

I’ve been wanting to try out a caramel apple cinnamon roll recipe from Paleo Eats by Kelly Bejelly for a while and today was the day. I knew almost immediately that the choux dough was going to be dry, but I persevered. I always think you need to follow the recipe exactly the first time. My mom did make a good point that the dough is better to be dry as they are covered in a glaze afterwards. I found the glaze to be too strong of a coconut flavor and think they would have been better with just a simple caramel sauce drizzled over them. Oh well, I have some ideas but I’m still on the lookout for a good go-to df/gf cinnamon bun recipe.

Shucks sorry, I just realized I didn’t take a photo before I froze the leftovers.

Crafting:

I got another square of my rug finished so I’m still on track after three weeks:)

I also got the tabard started again and have decided on a double miss stitch pattern. We’ll see how it goes.

Reading:

Finally I finished the day off with laundry and finishing my book. I read Like Cats and Dogs.

This is the story of Laura and Spencer. Laura is a bubbly, recent college graduate who is not happy with where she is in life, but doesn’t know where she wants to go. Spencer is a serious, graduate student writing his dissertation on love being only a chemical thing. What happens when they are stuck together in a house for two weeks?

The differences between these two characters are significant and at first I really couldn’t see them ending up together. The timeline is fast, but successful.

The premise is very cute of the rental house owner playing matchmaker.

I also really liked the plot line. It featured some laugh out loud funny moments and many other moments one just wishes to experience with someone special.

This is a very sweet book and anyone who likes an opposites attract book would enjoy it.

Thank you to Hallmark and Netgalley for the the free ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Well, it has been another lovely day, including an awesome nap, but I think I’m ready to crawl into bed with another book:)

Have fun!

Until I Ate

I thought I was all better, until I ate…😏

Exercise:

I had to do 6.5km this morning to complete my mission of 21km for the weekend. I got it done, but it wasn’t pretty. A solid ginger ale diet does not fuel a run well:(.

I’ve already told Lyndsay I won’t be doing a workout in the morning and as much as I’d like to go get the Monday mission ran, I think I may need the sleep and rest more.

While I was having tea with my former running buddies who now walk, Lyndsay had texted to see if I wanted to try out the Hatha yoga class at the rec centre. I zoomed home just in time to change and grab my mat. It was much more what I was looking for in a yoga class, though personally I still think there were too many vinyasas.

Reading:

I had to finish up “The Keeper of Lost Things” by Ruth Hogan today for book club.

This book was a quick read and very interesting. It tells two stories at the same time that end up being connected. Laura is a woman who hasn’t found herself in her life yet, but her employer, Anthony, leaves her his house and a big job upon his death. The other story is of Eunice and Bomber who are also employer and employee in the publishing world. The story switches between these two storylines and also features other short story snippets in between.

I liked the story, though at first I was worried it was going to be super sad, but it ends happily so I was satisfied:).

A few of the Bookclub ladies felt like nothing really happened in the story until the end.

I also started a new book, Until There Was Us by Samantha Chase, which I can’t wait to get back to!!

It definitely has me intrigued at the start!

Baking:

The Keeper of Lost Things talks a lot about “the lovely tea” as one character puts it, so I wanted to make something tea appropriate for Bookclub. I decided on scones. I made chocolate chip scones and also a batch of cranberry ones.

I used the recipe from the book, The Allergy Free Cook Bakes Bread.

I actually used the same recipe and just made slight variations for the cranberry ones. The chocolate chip ones turned out great!

1 cup Bob’s Redmill All purpose gf flour

2tbsp sugar

1.25tsp baking powder

1/2 tsp xantham gum

1/4 tsp baking soda

1/8 tsp salt

3 tbsp cold vegan buttery spread

1/3 cup non dairy chocolate chips

5 tbsp vegan buttermilk

You mix the dry ingredients together with a whisk. Then cut in the cold butter with a pastry blender. Stir in the chocolate chips and then bring the dough together with the buttermilk. Pat it out on parchment paper to 1-2″ thick and cut it into whatever shapes you want.

Bookclub:

Bookclub is always a good time! I know there is a stereotype out there about Bookclub being all about wine, but ours is actually all about food and catching up on each other’s lives.

My mistake was that I tried some of the food. I lasted three hours and got caught up on everything, but then had to come home:( I’m glad I went though as two of the women had their kids there and they were so cute!

I can’t wait for the June meeting!

Well I’m going to curl up in bed with my new book.

Have fun!

Vacation Day 9

A pretty good, low key vacation day:)

Exercise:

I got up this morning to go for my 12km run when I suddenly realized that if I was going to go that far I should probably have some water and honey stinger chews on hand, though I was hoping to be out only 75 minutes. Lol when I went to get the supplies, I came to the realization I am woefully unprepared for longer runs these days. I peeled two mandarin oranges for myself and headed out the door.

I met up with my totally awesome and flexible running buddy who was willing to walk however long it took me to run the 12km (she has hurt her feet and so isn’t running). I set out doing intervals of 4 and 1s as I figured I could survive anything doing that. Of course I quickly learned that one lap of the lake, while beautiful, was only 3.2km, not the 5km it said online. I was not willing to run that lake four times. I ended up doing 6.11km and headed for tea.

I was thinking about Julie as I was blasting Another One Bites the Dust and singing along on the way home from my run. It seemed like the perfect song for after that run!

The good news is that when I uploaded my run to Squad Runner, it gave me credit and 150 points for the mission. Yahoo🎊🎉🎊🎉. I was super relieved to not have to go out and run again in the afternoon.

This evening, I really didn’t want to work out, so I stuck with 200 squats and 150 crunches and called it a day.

Knitting:

I managed to finish my second sleeve today:) I think all I have to do now is sew the parts together and do the shawl collar- only six days to have it done for it to count for HPKCHC!

Reading:

One of my goals this year is to try and finish up the many series that I have started. Last night, I went back through GoodReads and found the first series I hadn’t finished was the Southern Roads series by Stephanie Bond. There were only three novellas left to read, so I got them from Amazon and am through 2.5 of them.

The series is about three brothers who resurrect their hometown that was flattened by a tornado ten years ago. I’ve really enjoyed the series and the short stories have been enjoyable too. Baby I’m Back made me laugh, cry and sigh, which to me is a good read:) Baby Hold On was centered around the rehab of a dog and since I love dogs, it was a given I’d enjoy the book. The only thing that bugged me was the “theories” of the groomer that were spot on. Ugh I don’t like perfect coincidences in books. I’m just finishing up the third short story and then I’ll have that series finished:). Is it bad that I even get excited about “accomplishing” finishing a series?

I have also spent some time listening to Treasure Island while knitting and have gotten to chapter 16:)

Baking:

I was given spinach by my friend Sarah and decided to try a batch of spinach brownies I found the recipe for on WordPress. They were super easy to make, but I have to admit that I can’t get past the look of them. To me they look like baby poop:(. I think these ones are going in the garbage, I don’t want to waste my calories on something that isn’t totally fulfilling!

Family:

Today is my dad’s birthday so I had left his present in the freezer for him yesterday:) Dilly bars- he loves them and my mom isn’t left with more stuff, seems like the perfect gift to me!😛. I also took my parents out for dinner tonight to celebrate. It was pretty good, we just shared three different appetizers:)

I have obviously eaten way too much today as I also had a tortilla pizza for lunch, thanks to Maureen of Maureen Gets Real:) I had a gluten free tortilla (Mission brand is the best I’ve found), spread it with pesto, mushrooms and chicken and then grated dairy free mozzarella on top. It was so good and felt so decadent to eat a whole pizza! I have definitely eaten too much today though, gotta be better tomorrow!

Well, I’m off to bed.

Have fun!

AJ

Happy Spring:)

A great start to a new season!

Exercise:

I slept in this morning but was up in time to join two friends for a walk around a local lake. It took 2 hours and 15 minutes and is just a series of big rolling hills. You come down a hill, just to go right back up one. I would definitely call it a workout, but it was so great to be out hiking on the first day of Spring! It definitely checked something off my spring break list:). We had taken Sarah’s dogs Kula and Wilson with us and I think Kula did about four times what we did!🤣

Later in the afternoon I forced myself out for a run so that I could continue my run streak:) Paula at Never a Dull Bling has been talking about Squad Runner so I looked it up today and the challenge was to run one hour over Monday and Tuesday. While I had thought to do just my usual half hour run I decided to tack on the extra five minutes to accomplish this challenge, just so I could test whether this was doable for me. I did get my 35 minutes in, though no thanks to Runkeeper which decided to tell me I was doing a 3:09 for my first km. Haha not unless I’ve recently sprouted wings!

Paula very kindly found me a team and I have joined up to Squad Runner. I’m just hoping it will inspire me to do more than my normal. The team I’ve joined seems amazing! And I now have to do a 5km run in the morning🤣.

I guess I was on fire as I also got a quick Lyndsay workout in this evening!

It wasn’t too much, but was at least something to keep me getting back on track:). I also discovered that catching up on WordPress is an awesome distraction during wall sits!!!🤣

Baking:

I haven’t just exercised today though. I had cranberries and cranberry jelly leftover from Saturday so decided to make muffins. Some of my (and my dad’s) favourite recipes come from the Joanne Fluke book series: Hannah Swenson Mysteries. I definitely recommend the series for anyone who likes cosy mysteries. She has a recipe for blue blueberry muffins that I love where you use blueberries and blueberry pie filling. I decided to try it out with cranberries and cranberry jelly. They turned out awesome, even with being gluten free and dairy free. The only thing I don’t love is my own fault! I ran out of butter and used lard in the crumb topping and I definitely don’t recommend this!

Knitting:

I have also managed to get the front of my sweater finished:) I just hope it all works out though as because I started with less stitches I also finished with less😳

My friend Brenda and I are trying to decide if we should go to the Fibres West festival or just save our money for the Knit Shop Hop next month. Decisions, decisions🤣

I should have really been cleaning my house today, but all I managed to do was take my poor dead houseplants outside and sweep up the living room:(. I really need to get a kick in the butt about this. I guess I’ll have to invite someone over🤣

Well I’m off to finish the Wives and Daughters movie, which so far has been really good!

Have fun!AJ

Reassurance

A quiet day with some reassurance.

I think it doesn’t matter how old you get, your mom is still your mom. However, as the only single woman at work, I seem to have a multitude of moms and everyone of them has been worrying about me and telling me to go to the doctor. Today I gave in and did just that.

I got told that yes I have a horrific cold and that it’s probably a continuation of the one I had in December:( However, I also got told that my ears aren’t infected ( I’ve had ear problems my whole life so when they aren’t normal even I get worried), and that as long as I got lots of rest there was no reason I couldn’t go back to exercising😀. I also got given some kid decongestant so I’ll be more comfortable at work:). In the past I’ve had trouble with adult medications. Overall, I’m happy with my results. I think the no infections put my mind at rest most!

Cooking:

I tried making crackers today for the first time! There were called In A Pinch Polenta Crackers in my Allergy Free Cook Bakes Bread Recipe book. It was super easy! Bring two cups of water with 1.25tsp of salt to a boil, stir in one cup of corn meal until it’s thick like porridge ( I think mine was too thick so I’ll try adding more water next time), then turn off the heat and add 2tbsp oil, and spices. I added 1/8tsp cumin, 1/8 tsp chili and 1/8 tsp garlic. Spread the mixture onto a greased cookie sheet and bake at 375 for 30 minutes. They were so yummy and will make a good after school snack tomorrow:)

I had thought that making crackers would be so difficult and they really weren’t! One thing I did learn though was that I should have scored them as the recipe called for as then maybe I would have gotten nice, uniform crackers.

Exercise:

This evening I got back to exercising. I adapted this workout I read on the Vicki Lynn Fitness blog this morning. I didn’t want to kill myself so I toned it down a bit, but it still felt like a good workout and it certainly felt good to move again. I think my body also got a workout from my coughing fit halfway through too🤣

Reading:

I have spent most of the day quietly reading another book from NetGalley which I should be able to tell you about tomorrow night as I’m off to finish reading it😂

I am looking for a suggestion of a new classic to listen to on Librivox if anyone has one:)

Have fun!

The Children Got Me!

Exercise: Nil.

At about 3am I texted my running buddies to tell them I wouldn’t be showing up today. I finally had to admit that I am sick:(

I ran across the street this morning for some oranges and chicken noodle soup and ended up having to buy the ingredients and make my own soup as they didn’t have any gluten free and dairy free. I really dislike food allergies when I’m sick and just want to lay on the couch. To add insult to injury I realized when I got home that I paid twice for the chicken:(

Cooking/Baking:

I have had many naps today and don’t really last too long on my feet, but managed to get the chicken noodle soup made for lunch and some cranberry orange upside down muffins made and frozen for my recess snacks this week. Yes, I am trying to lose these five pounds, but I know myself well enough to know that if I deny all treats, I’ll just go crazy one day. One small muffin a day should do the trick!

This muffin recipe was again from my The Allergy Free Cook Bakes Bread recipe book. It was quite easy and quick and they taste delicious. I really love how these cookbooks also give the calorie count for the treats too.

I just probably wouldn’t serve these for a special Christmas morning as they didn’t come easily out of the pan and so weren’t as pretty as o guess they could be.

Knitting:

I finished my socks a couple of days ago and unfortunately still had some of my New Hampshire yarn left, so… what to make with it to use it up? I decided on mitts but tried two different patterns with no success. Nothing But Knit has recommended the recent sock pattern to me that I loved so I decided to ask her if she knew of a mitt pattern. She suggested the World’s Easiest Mitts by Tin Can Knits. I have now finished one mitt and can say I’m loving this pattern. It comes in many sizes and for all different weights of yarn. Thank you Nothing But Knit!!! I think you just became my knitting pattern advisory board as you’re two for two, though I should probably learn your name🤣

Hopefully the second mitt will get done tomorrow!

I have so many things in mind for after that, such as a heating pad cover, another pair of socks and now I need to get something for a baby done by next Sunday!

Reading:

I have made good progress on listening to Wives and Daughters with all the knitting, but have also managed to read two other books too. That’s what happens when you can’t breathe so you can’t sleep.

I grabbed this book, The School for Heiresses off the pile under my desk. I had read it years ago, but reread it today. I enjoyed three of the four stories and think the last was my favourite. I was expecting the stories to be connected in some way, but they weren’t. It was okay with me and I think anyone who enjoys historical romance would enjoy it.

I also read this book, On the Plus Side by Alison Bliss which is the story of bubbly Valerie Carmichael who has crushed on her older brother’s best friend Logan Mathis her whole life. He comes back to town and opens a bar and Valerie ends up working for him.

This book pretty closely followed the typical older brother’s friend crush plot line with the necessary blowup at the end. I did feel as though the male character really needed to be fleshed out more and both characters did stupid things that drive me crazy. It was a light, quick read but didn’t stray too far from the stereotypical romance lines:(

Now I am halfway through another book from NetGalley.

Well I’m exhausted just from typing this so I’m going back to sleep.

Have fun!

AJ

Not Quite Right

Exercise:

I got up this morning and dragged myself out for a run. I wasn’t feeling quite myself but figured fresh air would help. My plan was to go out the opposite way so my run would be more than my usual thirty minute loop, but not my ten in route. I just got into the trail when Runkeeper paused the workout. When it had done so twice more within five minutes and then told me I had run 2.2km in those five minutes, I gave up, erased the workout and went to fix the settings. I started up again, only to have my shoelace come untied, just got back running and the other came undone. I figured the third time was the charm and I would help it out by turning and doing my usual route- it was better than nothing. Right after that I slipped and slid across the leftover ice, straight into the puddle. I was obviously being told something so at this point, I went home. I figured I would try again later, but that didn’t happen so I guess today is my rest day. It seems such a waste as the day started like this, but turned out beautifully!.

Outing:

I had decided that as I had no commitments and it wasn’t snowing, today I would go to the bakery three towns over and have a dairy free, gluten free cinnamon bun. I saw them at the GF Expo and have been trying to get there ever since. It took about forty minutes to get there, and I was almost drooling by the time I got there.

Of course, life isn’t that easy today. I walked in and asked for the gluten free, dairy free cinnamon bun only to be told that they are a special order item. I was so upset!!! I’ve been thinking about this for months! I ended up with a dumb maple blueberry scone that was too sweet. Zena’s Gluten Free Bakery, I’m not happy with you!

Reading:

I finished Fast Burn by Loti Foster today. Thank you to Net Galley for the free advanced copy in return for an honest review:)

I ended up enjoying this book very much. At the beginning I was annoyed with Sahara Silver. She thought she could say whatever she wanted just because she was the boss? She thought it was important for bodyguards to be sexy?? Ugh annoying. However, Lori Foster once again won me over. I came to know Sahara Silver and Brand Berry as complex characters who I wanted to see succeed in their relationship and their problems. Just when I was starting to doubt the friend dynamic in the book, Loti brought in some social time between the fighters, their wives and Sahara and Brand and made me a happy reader. The book is full of twists and turns and complex situations so even when you get a glimpse or an idea about something, there’s still a surprise around the corner. Another great Loti Foster Read! Thank you NetGalley for the advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

I have since almost finished another book, but I’ll tell you about it tomorrow. I have a few pages left to read.

Baking:

Ever since I read a blog post last week about blueberry scones, I’ve been wanting one and after this morning’s fiasco I figured I could do better. I used this recipe from the Allergy Free Cook Bakes Bread

The only change I made was to use buckwheat flour instead of quinoa and they turned out really well. Too well almost as I had one for lunch and another for dinner. I’m going to turn into a scone if I keep this up!!!

Knitting:

The best thing about my day is that my feet have been warm in my new socks all day. I have casted on my next project which I’ll share tomorrow. I have also gotten seven more yarns put into my Ravelry stash today. I love having my Yarns in there as then when I look at patterns on Ravelry it tells me which yarns I have that will work for the pattern:)

Have fun!

AJ

Sunshine!

A beautiful, sunny day after all the snow:)

Exercise:

I got out this morning for a short run. The sidewalk had been cleared from my place to the park so I did a loop of it. I had thought to do two loops, but I struggled today, so one was enough!

Eating:

Last week in the lunchroom, L had been saying she eats cheese and peanut butter sandwiches. I got the details from her and tried it out. On a side note, the Kinnikick bread tastes awesome!!! I did it as an open face sandwich with just a layer of peanut butter and then a layer of cheddar on top. It was so good! I think this would be an awesome answer to those days when I am just hungry and can’t seem to get full!

Baking:

I made muffins and cookies to take to my friend’s place today for tea. It’s a small price for baby snuggles:). I had looked last night and couldn’t decide on a blueberry muffin recipe and then reading Maureen’s blog this morning, she talked about blueberry muffins. Perfect timing! I used her recipe from Hereand it turned out great. I made three blueberry, three raspberry, three craisin, two raisin and one coconut. I had the coconut one and it was good!

The cookies I made were using steel cut oats and I still didn’t care for them. I’ll take them, but I’m glad to be almost done that package of oats! The recipe is from Here, though I made them peanut butter jam instead of peanut butter chocolate chip.

Reading:

I finished the school book club book, Ms. Bixby’s Last Day this morning.

This book has some excellent truths in it, though I found it difficult to always keep the characters straight! There were just too many similarities between them so halfway through a chapter I’d forget which one was speaking. And why do so many kids books have to be sad now?

Socializing:

This afternoon I had the opportunity to meet the newest son of one of my oldest friends. It’s always so awesome to see her and she’s doing amazing! She’s just one of those friends who is easy to be with. I stayed for about 2.5 hours as her husband had to go into work. It was an awesome afternoon!

Baby snuggles and kid playing is always awesome! I so love being Auntie Ali❤️

It started to snow so I left quick and got off the mountain they live on.

I don’t know how she does it though as I had to come home and take a nap, or maybe that’s just because it was Sunday afternoon and I could:)

Knitting:

I wanted to bake some more, but told myself I needed to work on my socks more! I am on the gusset decreases so hopefully I’ll have a finished sock to show off tomorrow and then I’ll have to do the other in just two days! I guess this is one instance where I can be happy that I have tiny feet!

Have fun!
