I can’t believe I forgot to tell you about my early morning excitement yesterday!
I was on my way to work, got to the trail onto the school grounds and thought I saw something ahead of me. My running buddies are always teasing me about my thinking a stump is an animal, but it turned out this stump that looked like a bear, was a bear!! I backed up and went up onto the field, but he also went up onto the field, so I ended up having to walk around the block. Third times the charm! It definitely got my heart racing though!!!
Teaching:
I slept in a little this morning, on purpose, and so just got directly ready for work. This morning I had a prep that was interrupted by a fire drill. They didn’t do too badly for coming from music. After recess we coloured our first Terry Fox shoe and worked on our number printing booklets. This afternoon we did a second Terry Fox shoe with the grade 1/2 class and they had to include who they were running for and a pattern. There were endless stories from this activity🤣
After school we got a few items checked off the list to organize which felt good!
Exercise:
I couldn’t decide whether to eat first or run first, but in the end I went with running in case it started raining. I had a pretty fast 4.5km run which felt really good. I would really like to keep getting a little faster so I can get to a thirty minute 5km. I am so close!!!
Thankfully this run was uneventful and quite lovely as it was a perfect Fall day for a run!
Knitting:
I am busy finishing up my first sleeve on the Not a Boring Sweater. I can’t believe that I got my first squishy mail today! I only ordered the skein of yarn on Monday and it came today. It’s a perfect match and I am much calmer knowing I have an entire extra skein if it is needed.
I guess that’s about it for my day.
Have fun!

An actual bear? Woah!
Yup it’s common around here but this is the first I’ve seen since June
That’s cool and scary at the same time. We have squirrels.
A bear!! I think that would have had my heart racing too!!
Yup the ticker works well!
If it raised your heart rate, technically, it’s exercise ticked off for the day 😜
That’s perfect! I hadn’t thought of that
Oh my gosh I can’t believe you have bears! The scariest thing I see on a run is an angry looking squirrel!
Oh yes we have bears, cougars, deer, coyotes, and raccoons
A BEAR! Oh my!!
N’s PR for a 5k is 16.53. He is crazy fast! You’ll get your PR down!
Wow he is crazy fast! I just try to chip away at it
A bear!!! Goodness me. I saw a lot of dogs and my friend Terri from yoga who has a broken shoulder. That’s the most excitement I ever get on a run! (OK, we saw two UK Olympians running past us on the canal one Sunday when there was athletics on here …). NO bears.
Two olympians is pretty exciting!
That must have been scary to see a bear up so close! Glad it turned out OK!
So am I!
Are bears common where you are? I think I totally would have panicked if I saw bear while I was out running! It seems like you handled it really well tho 😀
Yes bears, cougars, coyotes, deer, raccoons – are all very common here
Oh my word, what an insane story about the bear!!😳🐻
It was an insane way to start the day
Wow! Your encounter with the bear was exciting.
I tried to tell it better than I normally would🤣
You did a good job of not casting aspersions on the intruding bear.
Lol it’s not his fault we’ve built in his territory
Ooh, a bear!
What? You did see a bear? Near you? ON foot?
Yes I saw a bear while walking to school. We had two run ins actually:)
Oh my goodness! Maybe a bell on your jacket or pack is in order!!
Lol I never even thought of that, but I will start making more noise:)
That was a pretty exciting run! Good for you spotting and avoiding it! Sounds like a nice day otherwise 🙂 Yay for your spare skein of yarn showing up so quickly!
It was definitely a way to start the day with a bang!!!
I was amazed at how quickly it got here!
Yikes a bear! Better send that bad boy into his Winter slumber pretty soon!
